The ultimate teacher will model the same moral qualities that they are teaching
and encouraging within the classroom. They should be sure to strive for the
same goals that are placed before the students and should constantly reflect
on such personal development. The wholesome conduct of a teacher should reflect
a fair, tolerant, respectable, wise and experienced individual, and one that
the students can admire.
Teachers should seek feedback from others as well as regularly critically
reflect
on their own self-development in the desired areas. Teachers should strive
to
inspire their students within the appropriate directions. The teaching strategies
implemented must be constantly revaluated to decipher the appropriateness
towards
developing a student who is both able to function within the education system
as well as in society a a whole.
Teachers must have appropriate understanding, a deep knowledge of content,
professional morals and values as well as the responsibility to maintain
these aspects and
teach this to the students. Critiquing the impact of their teaching on the
class
is another important aspect, as it needs to be constantly changed and evaluated
to suit the changing society and needs of the children as well as the connotations
associated with certain teaching techniques within the school context.
They need to abide by ethical and legal principles and abide by the government’s
“
code of conduct” They should be able to judge their teaching in terms of
motivating
the children and relating effectively to them. They need to be fully committed
to effectively developing the student’s capabilities and developments as
an
individual in the best possible way.
