Info on Herry's PhD

I completed my PhD in 1998 with support from an Overseas Postgraduate Research Scholarship and a Charles Sturt University Postgraduate Research Scholarship.

I investigated the ecology of forest dwelling bats (Microchiroptera) in the western slopes of the Australian Alps at the Johnstone Centre, Charles Sturt University. Objectives of the research were:

  • to create an inventory of the species in the area;
  • to improve bat survey methodology;
  • to increase knowledge on habitat requirements of selected species;
  • to study foraging and roosting requirements of selected species; and
  • to identify habitats of special importance for the bats in the area.
  • These investigations resulted in the PhD Thesis: "Aspects on the ecology of insectivorous bats forest-dwelling bats in the western slopes of the Australian alps".
