Reading, for me, is an enjoyable experience. I have loved to read since I learned how, though not necessarily the books I have been told to read such as prescribed texts for school and uni, even if they are books I would enjoy normally.
I see a lot of students at work that don't have the expected reading level for their age and I find it sad for them. Reading is such a necessary day to day skill and to not have the experience or will to expand that skill makes me sad. I am very grateful to my Mum who first taught me to read, then continued to encourage my progress.
