• teaching philosophy:

For one of my first year subjects I was asked to consider my philosophy of teaching and learning and how I intend to achieve the goals I set myself as a teacher. As I thought about what education should be it and what it currently is, two things stood out to me as essential to the essence of education.

• Education should be something the whole community is apart of: education should recognise and embrace the community it is a part of.

• Students need to have some influence / input on the content and nature of their education in order that it remains relevant and interesting to them.
  

Having had limited teaching experience these ideas may just appear to be idealistic, however I have also thought through ways in which these ideas could be put into practice, and what it will take of me as a teacher to see them come about. I talk more about this in Pedagogy and Assessment
