Tour of Garroorigang: On the original 50 acre parcel of land purchased by Charles Thomas from John Archer Broughton in 1857, Mr Thomas constructed a dwelling and outbuildings which was to open two years later in 1859, as the Mulwaree Inn.
After a series of major events in Goulburn's history which impacted on the Inn's viability, it was sold in 1868 to Samuel Harbourne Belcher who set up a school to provide a classical education for "gentlemen's sons". The school operated on the site until 1883, at which time it was closed and Mr Belcher lived in retirement on the site until his death in 1920. Shortly after his father's death, eldest son Stuart Belcher and his wife Annie came to live at Garroorigang. Being childless, at Mrs Belcher's request the property was purchased by her sister's family, Stuart and Ingeborg Hume in 1951. The Hume family are collateral descendants of explorer, Hamilton Hume.9
