2012 Butt Family Picnic Day

Junee was again chosen as the location for this year's family picnic day, held on Saturday 31 March in the Junee Memorial Gardens situated on the corner of Main Street (Olympic Highway) and Cox Street in Junee.

Family Gathering in Memorial Park

The weather was sunny and very pleasant and the good sized crowd added to the enjoyment of the gathering.

This year we reached another milestone in our family's history, as 2012 is the 175th anniversary of the arrival of brothers George and Stephen Butt and their families in Sydney on 8 April 1837.

Discussions were held around documenting our history in a publication of some sort and expressions of interest were sought in providing information, with contact to be made with various members of the family for the purposes of updating our family tree and assisting in the gathering of historical information.

With the formal proceedings completed, lunch was held in the park, followed by a self guided tour of the Broadway Museum.

Later that evening, dinner had been arranged at The Railway Station Cafe in Railway Square. According to reports, a good night was enjoyed by all.

As discussed during the meeting, next year's gathering is scheduled to be held in Young, to coincide with the Lambing Flat Festival anticipated to be at the end of March 2013. Full details will be circulated prior to the event.
