Contrast (15%)
The idea behind contrast is to avoid elements on the page that are merely similar.
It the elements (type, colour, size, line thickness, shape, space, etc.), are not the same ... then make them obviously different.
Contrast is often the most visually important factor on a page.
Repetition (15%)
Repeat visual elements of the design throughout the piece.
You can repeat colour, shape, texture, spatial relationships, line thickness, sizes, etc.
This helps develop the organizational and strengths of unity.
Alignment (15%)
Nothing should be placed on the page arbitrarily.
Every element should have some visual connection with another element on the page.
Good alignment creates a clean, sophisticated fresh look.
Proximity (15%)
Items relating to each other should be grouped close together.
When several items are in close proximity to each other, they become one visual unit rather than several separate units.
Proximity helps organize information and reduces clutter.
Idea (15%)
An idea can transform the simple into the sublime, the ordinary into the outrageous, or the barely good into the great Ñ
A good idea poorly executed or awkwardly presented may never reach itÕs audience.
