NY Knicks move above .500 without Jeremy Lin, Amar'e Stoudemire, as Carmelo Anthony and Iman Shumpert score 25 points apiece in 22-point blowout win against Orlando Magic
NY KNICKS 108, ORLANDO MAGIC 86
For Carmelo Anthony, scoring is a lot like riding a stationary bicycle. It just comes naturally to him. "I started getting a little rhythm out there," Anthony said. I am just trying to pick my spots out there. It was going for me tonight." Melo was a Tour de Force in the Knicks' convincing 108-86 win Wednesday night over an Orlando Magic team that, led by Dwight Howard, was beyond pathetic.
"We were awful," said Magic coach Stan Van Gundy. True, but Anthony and the Knicks had something to do with Orlando's lackluster performance. Anthony stuck to two spots, in the low post and in the corner behind the Knicks bench where he kept his strained right groin loose by riding the aforementioned bike. Despite limping noticeably at times and grimacing on certain moves, Anthony still managed to score 25 points in 26 minutes as the Knicks (26-25) improved to 8-1 under Mike Woodson and went above .500 for the first time since they were 6-5 in early January.
"It was a gritty win," said Baron Davis, who played well despite a sore right hamstring. "We have been banged up. "That is what we need . . . a total team effort."
