Robbie Burns the Scottish House Way

Robbie Burns the Scottish House Way|7 Feb 12 @ 04:16am

Robbie Burns will never die as long as the celebration goes on.  Scottish House celebrates his birthday every year with a BBQ lunch.  This time there was no address to the haggis, but to the haggis sausages (or haggis pups as they are sometimes called)  Salads aplenty, tender corned beef and a follow up of fruit salad and ice cream, cakes, tea and coffee.

The pipers piped, the singers sang, and Jack Oliver sang one of Robbie Burns’ songs.  Then he was back in his element again with his rendition of Nickety Nackety Noo.  If you don’t know what that means it doesn’t matter.  Jack’s Fifey accent is so broad, you can’t understand the rest either!  Only kidding Jack.  Good on ya!  His enthusiasm sets everyone in the mood for a sing-song.

Their new President, Les McLean,  performed his first official duties, by welcoming everyone, especially new faces,  and making announcements.  New members and volunteers are always welcome.  Scottish House will be moving to a new site at Granville very soon.  Details will follow.

The weather held out, not that that would ever stop a Scot from having a good time.
