I used Proquest because it has content based on marketing and economics which would include my topic choice of "Online Advertising".
My first search "online advertising" obtained 571 hits (Proquest Results 1). To many results were obtained and were not specific to the subject of "SPAM" online advertising.
My second search was "online advertising and spam*" and obtained 6 hits (Proquest Results 2). Articles provided a reasonable quality
of information for my topic and I selected two documents to use.
I used Google because it is a general Internet search engine and to see what information I would hit in a search accross the World Wide Web on my subject.
My first search "online advertising and spam*" obtained 407,000 hits (Google Results 1). To many results were obtained to get good information.
My second search was "online advertising and spam* and problems*" and obtained 48,400 hits (Google Results 2). Still to many results so tried to refine my search further.
My third search was "online advertising and spam* and problems* or issues*" and obtained 22,400 hits (Google Results 3). Still a large amount of hits but was able to find articles relevant to my topic.
Another broad search tool but focused on Australia and New Zealand searches. With Yahoo I can find information that is relevant to my topic in Australia.
My first search "online advertising and spam*" obtained 313,000 hits (Yahoo Results 1). To many results were obtained and were not specific to the subject of "SPAM" online advertising.
My second search was "online advertising and spam* and problems*" and obtained 55,300 hits (Yahoo Results 2). Still a large amount of hits to find specific articles.
My thrid search was "online advertising and spam* and problems* or issues*) and I restricted my search to articles that were no later than 6 months old.
I obtained 22,400 hits (Yahoo Results 3). Still a large amount of results but found articles to use for my essay.
For my fourth search I used and EJournal "computer user.com". My first search was for "spam*" and I obtained 690 hits. To scale down the results my second search was "spam* and issues*". From this I obtained 3 hits and all three documents were relevent to my topic.

I used Factiva because it focuses on business, business news, company and industry research with a content from newspapers such as "The Age" and "The Sydney Morning Herald".
My first search "online advertising and spam* and issues*" obtained 169 hits. I was able to get some good articles for my report. See attached results, Factiva Result 1, Factiva Result 2, Factiva Result 3.
