George is our beautiful green Quaker Parrot. My fiance and I got him when he was about 18 months old.
He was a little boy's pet but he gave him up as he didn't have time to spend with him so George was locked in the cage all the time.
When we met him, we just fell in love with him. He sat on our shoulders and said "hello".
George came home with us that day and we had to learn all about how to properly care for our little Quaker.
We quickly worked out that it was no easy task to look after this type of bird. He needed fresh fruit and/or vegies every day.
He required constant attention and could not be just locked in his cage (even if it was only a few feet from us!) otherwise
he would squawk constantly and LOUD!
It was pretty clear that George was to become part of the family. We had to prepare his meals so that he could eat with us so he wouldn't get jealous.
We had to spend time with him every day and have plenty of toys for him to play with so that he wouldn't get bored.
While this seems like a lot of work for a bird, it was all worth it.
George can be a lot of fun!

Quakers have an interesting diet and it was good to have this table stuck on the fridge to help us feed George.
