Pedagogy & Assessment
Pedagogy
is the art and practice of teaching. Both the learner and teacher
should be involved
equally. Within the training I am undertaking here
at Charles Sturt University I will be educated how to provide such things
as the Teaching Learning Cycle, scaffolding, reformulation, extension
and how to develop a child’s internalisation.
Assessment
proves to be a fundamental to my teaching practices: I need to know
that the
information I am teaching is within the student’s
zone of proximal development and is understood. There are other ways
of approaching assessment; it all depends on what I am attempting to
find out, for examples:
• Observations
• Checklists
• Portfolios
• Creative presentations
• Power points
• Anecdotal records
As a teacher it is important to remember that the assessment is part
of what I will do on a daily bases as a teacher within the PD/H/PE area.

For 12 years I have been involved
in Baton Twirling, I have attended many competitions as an athlete
and now I attend them as an athlete and a coach.
I am a member of the Dubbo R.S.L Youth Club for Baton Twirling; I
choreograph routines to music within the floor space of a basketball
court. Last year I coached the Australian Junior Pair Representatives,
whom travelled to Spain to compete in the World Baton Twirling Championships,
there they gained 13th place out of 17 countries which is a great
achievement for Australia, I am proud to say I was their coach.

Being
a junior nominated sports person for the R.S.L Club has shown
me that I have developed
well
in the coaching area as well as an athlete. It is important
for me to be recognised as an asset to the club as it gives
me the
will power to keep on giving the coaching my all, it’s great
to actually feel as though I have helped my athletes achieve a
goal. To be valued as a candidate for the sports person of the
year award is a fair achievement even if I don’t hold
the title.
