For the past two years I have been engaged in scuba diving, after my wife paid for lessons as a birthday present, which I took with my best friend, Kent. The experience was so incredible, the feeling of virtual weightlessness coupled with an amazing sense of freedom. And the new world of wonders that open up for a diver once submerged is impossible to put into words, and must be experienced.

I immediately set about building up my inventory of equipment so that I could take to the waters whenever I was able. Living inland, and having a family make this a rare, but precious experience.

While undertaking lessons at Plunge Diving Kent and I were fortunate to make friends with a more experienced diver, Bernie, who has a house at Jervis Bay. Since then the three of us make dives around the bay as often as we can. There are some incredible dive sites that we have dived in Jervis bay including:

The greatest hurdle for me progressing in this sport has been the search for information. When my wife gave me my gift certificate to Plunge Diving, I went imediately to the internet to find out more about begining as a diver. The search was frustratingly futile, as there were many sites to training centres, but nothing which would give information to an interested non-adept.

The intention of this web site is to provide information for those people who are thinking of trying the sport of scuba diving. This site will answer questions about:

  1. how to enter the sport
  2. what requirements regarding physical fitness are expected
  3. the costs involved
  4. what equipment is needed, and what it does
  5. Frequently asked questions
