Significance: Founder.

1859– 1943 (aged 83)

Significance: Morihei Ueshiba's teacher.

Morihiru Saito

1928– 2002 (aged 74)

Significance:Ueshiba's top student. Head of the Aikikai until 2002.

Takeda Sensei

Koichi Tohei

1920– 2011 (aged 91)

Significance:Founder of Ki no Kenkyukai, a school of aikido that focuses on the study of Ki.

Tohei Sensei

Seiichi Sugano

1939– 2010 (aged 71)

Significance: Former head of the Australian Aikido Federation countries.
