Pacific Reminders
Places of Memory and Commemoration

World War II in the Pacific was fought on many fronts, from the tropical isles in the South Pacific to the windswept Aleutians off Alaska. Throughout this region places and objects remain, silent witnesses and poignant reminders of atrocity. Many have transformed into places of peace and symbols of hope. At home, the Shrine of Remembrance and other places provide avenues of contemplation for those who returned, and commemoration of those who did not.
