Pedagogy & Assessment

Practicum Teaching Experience

My skills with regard to pedagogy and assessment were developed through practical experience during practicum placement sessions. During my session 2 placement, I taught a composite year 4,5,6 class. Some students within the class were achieving beyond stage 3, while others were at early stage 2. Through ongoing assessment, I was able to gain insight into the needs of individual students and therefore plan lessons accordingly. I was able to evaluate lesson content and teaching strategies and adapt these in response to student needs.

End of Session Comments

'Liz's strength was her insight into evaluating herself and her pupils for further direction in her planning' (Associate Teacher Practicum Session 2).

'Liz used the children's work during her lessons to provide evaluation for herself and the development of the class. She gained an excellent insight into the needs of the children' (Associate Teacher Practicum Session 2).

'Liz became very flexible and responded to the needs of children in the class' (Associate Teacher Practicum Session 2).

'Planning, use of aids, motivation and preparation were developed to a high standard. The children achieved all objectives and Liz's planning and evaluation demonstrated how she was going to develop the next stage in her lessons. The children enjoyed the lessons prepared as was evident by the work completed' (Associate Teacher Practicum Session 2).
