Becoming a Professional

Practical Workplace Experience

A range of practical experience has contributed toward my professional development. Practicum placement sessions, along with various short courses, have helped me to develop a range of teaching and learning skills. Through practical workplace experience I have developed an understanding of employer expectations and am able to function efficiently and confidently in a workplace environment.

Previous Employment

  • Dental Assistant / Office trainee

'Elizabeth was always neatly dressed, punctual and well spoken. She has the ability to talk with patients and put them at ease. Everyone found her to be extremely keen; only having to be shown once and quick to grasp the essence of the job on hand' (Employer's comment).

  • Sales Assistant

'I found Elizabeth to be trustworthy, through in carrying out duties intrusted to her, punctual and most pleasant to work with and in dealing with our customers. Elizabeth did have responsibilities to our business as she was on her own at times. She coped very well indeed.' (Employer's comment).

  • Voluntary and Community Work
I have been involved in voluntary work with the PCYC. This included assisting with planning and compiling a business plan and community profile, as well as assisting with supervision of youth at various PCYC events. This experience has helped to broaden my understanding of youth issues and will no doubt be of benefit to me as a school counsellor.
