Hi my name is Gregory Priem, I am 18 years old, and currently studying a Bachelor of Science at Charles Sturt Universtity in Wagga Wagga. I am currently travelling back and forth from University three days a week from Temora where my grandma lives. I actually live in Tumut but to save time I travel from Temora because it is only a fifty minute trip to Wagga whereas from Tumut it is an hour and thirty minute trip. I have lived in Tumut all of my life so the all of 18 years were spent in Tumut.Tumut is a relatively small town with the total population being around six thousand four hundred people. Tumut is situated right in the middle of the south west slopes and is only a stones throw away from Blowering Dam, which is the largest dam in this area. Blowering Dam is used for many recreational activities, from fishing (catching Redfin, Cod and Yellowbelly, with redfin being the only species in the dam that you CANNOT throw back. This is because they are a noxious pest that eats the other native fingerlings in the dam.) right through to water activities (water skiing, wakeboarding, kneeboarding, etc). The links that are shown at the bottom of this page are some of my favourite hobbies, foods, and animals. When these links are clicked on it will open up a seperate page and go into some more detail about my favourite things.
This picture below shows where Tumut is situated and how far this little town is from surrounding communities. This map shows that Tumut is right next to the Tumut River which is also great for recreational activities like fishing for trout and kayaking downstream. However being situated right on the front door of a river also has its disadvantages. These disadvantages have happened twice now in the last couple of years. These were the floods of 2011 and 2012 which caused extensive damage to the river beds and also houses further downstream. This was due to massive amounts of rain being depostited in the surrounding areas, which the land cannot soak up so it runs off down to the river, rising the river level dramatically. The picture below shows the most recent flood of 2012 in Tumut.
