It's just one of those thongs

Police seized 49 T-back thongs and three fishnet shirts at the home of alleged "manhunter" Jerome Lau Ting-sing, the District Court heard.
Also in the cache were four disposable cameras and 61,200 sexy photos of people including artists and civil servants.

And in court yesterday, Deputy District Judge Ernest Lin Kam-hung looked reluctant when the prosecutor wanted to present the T-backs - one of which was red with a white feather - as evidence. The judge passed them to a secretary after a quick look inside the bag.

Outside court yesterday the 62-year- old Lau cheerfully told reporters he was wearing the 50th branded T-back, which is a type of thong. "Police took away 49 T-backs from my house so today I am wearing the 50th," Lau said. "But I won't let you people look at it."

The high-profile businessman also said he was wearing a HK$8,000 Yoshi Kubo black and white coat and a HK$7,000 pair of trousers. His diamond necklace cost HK$100,000.

He said the 49 T-backs were from Europe and ordered through the internet.

Lau has pleaded not guilty to two counts of indecent assault and two counts of criminal intimidation. A 26-year-old co-defendant Lo Yan-kit, a member of boyband 4anda, pleaded guilty to one count of criminal intimidation.

Testifying in court, detective Leung Wai-hung of the West Kowloon Crime Squad said the officers found most of the items under the dining room table at Lau's Happy Valley apartment in September 2008.

The officers also found a piece of paper with the cell and home phone numbers of a fitness coach.

The coach, known only as Mr D, told the court yesterday that Lau approached him while he was waiting for his girlfriend at Times Square in August 2008.

Lau claimed he was an agent for an advertising company looking for models, and invited the coach to his Happy Valley apartment for a photo- shoot the next day, the court was told.

There, Lau gave the coach one red and one black T-back, saying this is what clients in Southeast Asia like.

The coach told the court he was scared when Lau pulled down his T-back, exposing his genitals. He asked Lau why he did that and was told that "everyone takes photos like this." The coach then allowed Lau to take some pictures of him in the nude.

Mr D said he later decided not to contact Lau any more. However, Lau's godson Lo Yan-kit and Lau both threatened Mr D. "He said that I was lucky the typhoon signal No 9 was hoisted that day, otherwise he would have posted my nude pictures onto gay web sites," the coach said. "He said then many gay guys will ask me for the [one- night-stand] price on the street."

Lau even threatened to get some men to seduce the coach's girlfriend and take nude pictures of her. The coach said he was scared and went to the police.

Lau's lawyer told the court that it was the coach who was doing the seducing. The lawyer claimed the coach is gay and had half an hour of phone sex with Lau the night they first met. Lau and the coach had sex the second night they met, the lawyer claimed.

He said Lau became angry when Mr D suddenly broke off what he thought was a romantic relationship.

The hearing continues today.
