The bass guitar is a stringed instrument normally eletric played using the fingers. The bass guitar has a simalar build to the guitar with strings that are (E, A, D, G) when in standerd tuning.

The main parts of the bass are the body, the strings, the fret board, the pick up, the head, the control knobs and the tuning knobs. in order fot the bass to be heard it needs to be pluged into a amplifier using a lead.

The bass guitar has largly replaced the double bass in most popular music pieces and bands. It genarally holds the beat with the drums or creates the rythme. The bass guitar is used in many styles of music including rock, metal, pop, ska, reggae, dub, punk rock, country, blues, and jazz.

Flea the bassist shown below is known for his skill in slapping and poping to get a funk-rock sound for his band The Red Hot Chili Pepers!
