Blink-182 are an American punk rock band consisting of 3 members; Tom DeLonge, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker. Blink-182 formed in 1992 with members Tom DeLonge, Mark Hoppus and Scott Raynor. Blink-182 originated from Poway, California. The band began when Tom's friend, Kerry Key and his girlfriend Anne Hoppus, introduced her brother Mark to Tom, both sharing an interest in Punk music they clicked instantly.

Type of Music:
Blink-182 write and play Pop-Punk music. Common themes for lyrics include; Love, Family, Friends and Relationships. Songs include lyrics relating to immaturity while more serious songs reflect divorce and breaking up. However alot of the songs written by Blink-182 have themes of Toilet Humor (particularly on the 'Take Off Your Pants and Jacket' album).
Breakup and Reformation:
In February 2005, the band release information of their breakup, stating it was an 'indefinite hiatus'. The band broke up after arguments regarding their future and recording process. Tom wished to record only from his home in San Diego.
In September 19, 2008, Travis was involved in a plane crash that killed 4 people and left him with second and third degree burns and developed post traumatic stress disorder, which resulted in 16 surgeries and 48-hour blood transfusions. Tom and Mark both reached out to Travis, visiting the hospital, which laid the grounds for a reunion. In October 2008 the three metup and discussed the events of the hiatus and breakup, with Tom asking what was next for them, to which Mark replied they should continue with what they've been doing for the past 17 years.
Eventually the band appeared on stage together for the first time in nearly 5 years at the February 2009 Grammy Awards.
