My Gallery

As mention on the home page, one activity I enjoy is playing around with the graphic design/manipulation program Adobe Photoshop. Everything I know about Photoshop was self-taught through tutorials and experimentation. I don't consider myself particularly competent at using the program, but I generally know enough to make a few basic designs. Most of the time when I'm making a picture, its because I've been struck by a particular phrase that gives me an idea of what to make. The best way to see what I mean by this is to have a look at the small collection of pictures underneath.
The following images have been scaled down but you can click on them to see their full size.

This image is called 'Against Everything'.
I made it using a standard sans serif font, which I've then modified with vector shapes and cutting pieces from the text.

Against All Odds design

The next one is one I was actually asked to make for my friends' band. The band name was 'Alight The Heart' and this image was trying to take advantage of the fact that the end of 'Alight' and the beginning of 'Heart' could be used to form 'the'. The size was intended for a 1280 x 1024 desktop.

This image is called 'EWF', referring to the text in the picture. I made this one initially as a phone wallpaper, but was also interested in potentially printing it onto a T-Shirt. Similarly to 'Against Everything' above, I've used a simple font and modified it used basic shapes and by cutting fragments from the text.

Everything Will Fall design

Finally, this is my favourite. I made this using a royalty-free photograph, and the inspiration for it was lyrics to the song by Not Unto Us entitled 'Taking The World By Isolated Showers'. The image size was dictated by the size of the photograph, but it is approximately the right size and ratio for a 1366 x 768 laptop screen or monitor.
