Welcome to my personal website. Here you will find information about my teaching, research and other interests. The sunset image was taken by me and is the view from my deck. The picture of me was taken by Dirk Spennaman as a part of a photography project.

This website is still under construction and will continue to evolve and change. I hope you find this website useful and I encourage comments and feedback.

Cheers

Latest "news"

February continued to be "HOT HOT HOT" into the first few weeks. The official average daily maximum temperature was 41.5 degrees for the first few weeks, while my weather station at home recorded several days of 46 degrees. My office hit 33 degrees for several days and as a result my fish tank is now empty!!!

The last four weeks have been very hectic. I have travelled to our Bathurst and Wagga Wagga campuses to meet fellow colleagues and to plan the year ahead. I also spent two days in Sydney catching up with TAFE NSW and some of our students undertaking our integrated program. It was great meeting these people for the first time and putting faces to the email addresses I regularly reply to. I hope to make these visits a regular event.

Bushfires

February 7th is a day that the nation will not forget. Here in Albury the town was blanketed in smoke with visibility reduced to a few hundred metres. Beechworth, located approximately 30 minutes from Albury, and surrounding areas (Yackandandah, Kergunyah) were under threat for some days. Many CSU staff and students live in these areas as well as volunteer for their local CFA. Words cannot describe the tragedy of the days to follow and the concern felt for colleagues and friends involved in this horrible event.

The threat is still not over. NE Victoria has not seen rain since December and today we are again blanketed in smoke.

O'week

This week we have seen bright-eyed-and-bushy-tailed new students getting about on campus. I am sure they have been overwhelmed by the amount of information they have been exposed to but hopefully the "non-academic" events have helped ease that pain. Classes start on Monday and I am looking forward to meeting our new students and catching up with those who are returning.
