With Remote Server

1. Click on the Manage Sites link OR Choose Site > Manage Sites.

2. In the dialog box click on New > Site

3. In the text box, enter a name to identify the site within Dreamweaver. The name could be anything.

Click Next to proceed to the next step.

4. Select the No option.

Click Next to proceed to the next step.

5. Select the option labeled “Edit local copies on my machine, then upload to server when ready (recommended).”

Click the folder icon next to the text box.

In the Choose Local Root Folder for Site dialog box, start by navigating to your web folder.

If you don't have a web folder, create a new folder somewhere e.g. on your thumb drive, floppy or in My Documents (use File - New - Folder or right mouse button click and choose New - Folder). Name the folder e.g. efolio.

This new folder is the local root folder for your site. Press Select.

Click Next to proceed to the next step.

6. Choose FTP from the pop-up menu and add the following information.

Press Test Connection to make sure the information is correct. Click OK if you have connected successfully. If there is an error double check the information above.

Click Next to proceed to the next step.

6. Select No, do not enable check in and check out

Click Next to proceed to the next step.

7. Dreamweaver shows you a summary of your site.

Click Done to finish.

8. It may come up with another dialog box. Make sure your site is selected the press Done.

9. The Site panel now shows the new local root folder for your current site, and an icon to let you view all of your local disks in a hierarchical tree view.

The Site panel normally shows all the files and folders in your site if they exist.
