Ken was the 1st Australian academic to be awarded

Notes
Ken Eustace is an ICT lecturer, researcher and journalist with a background in science and computer science education. Ken teaches information and communications technology (ICT) subjects in the School of Computing and Mathematics. His teaching portfolio includes supervising postgraduate IT project specialisations, Python programming, Web development frameworks (Ruby on Rails & Django), social networking and online communities, readings in ICT, software engineering project management and instructional gaming. He is
currently leader of the Learning and Teaching Committee in the school and
a member of the Faculty of Business Learning & Teaching Committee.
His PhD topic was "Building Effective
Learning Communities Online: An Ethnographic Study" and conitinues
his work in that field as a Border Studies Associate.
His research interests are inter-disciplinery and include:
- Human-computer interaction HCI, software agents and 3D interface design;
- Online communities, social networks in business and education;
- Instructional gaming, collaborative authoring & ICT literacy;
- Alternative paradigms for learning and research.
- Web history, science & techology;
- Wireless networking and experimentation;
- E-commerce and business systems technology in regional communities;
- Qualitative research methodologies for HCI, CSCW and ICT research.
Ken is a member of the Centre for Research in Complex Systems (CRiCS) at CSU; a professional member of the ACM; a member of IFIP WG 3.6 Distance Education, Australian Council for Computers in Education (MACCE) and the Association for Adjacent Education (MAAE), Geneva. Ken Eustace is also a director of the Internet
Special Projects Group at CSU; member of Australian
Council for Computers in Education (MACCE); the Association for Adjacent Education
(MAAE), Geneva.
The ISPG research program began in 1993 with the Web as a new learning technology, then with work on Web interfaces to agricultural
research information, extension technology, Web 2.0 collaborative technologies,
and the business opportunities of online communities as
expressed through the Silo Project (the Online Farm Community
at http://silo.csu.edu.au/) at Charles Sturt University in late 1995. As an ISPG director, Ken Eustace has worked
with colleagues in around the Asia-Pacifics on the use of ICT environments in e-learning
and continuing professional development, HCI and computer supported cooperative
work (CSCW). Since 1994, teaching and research with telelearning environments began with MOO (enCore), ZOPE, MOODLE, Drupal and the rollout of the Sakai-based learning
environment called CSU Interact as part of the wave of Web 2.0 technologies and social networking in education.
