Using Different Fonts

In the assignment you need to use different fonts on your website. There are a number of fonts to choose from. Examples are Times New Roman, Courier and Forte just to name a few. It is important to consider when working on your page restricting the use of custom fonts. When you install a font on your PC to use it will work ok and look just the way you wanted it. However, if the visitor to you page does not have that font installed the web browser will render it in a boring standard sans serif font. It’s best to stick to the stock standard fonts that are including on your computer when working with ordinary HTML webpages.

Here below, we have some examples of how you would display/use different fonts.

Using Lists

The assignment requires you to use at least one list. In HTML, there are two types of list that you can create; a numbered list and a bullet point list (officially known as an ordered list and an unordered list). Lists can be used in any way you see fit, some examples are below.

To create a numbered list, you would use the following code:

Which makes a list looking like this

  1. The first item in the list
  2. The second item in the list
  3. The third item in the list
  4. The fourth item in the list
  5. The fifth item in the list

To create a bullet point list, you would use this code:

Which makes a list like this:

Using Hyperlinks

When creating your webpage, you are required to include hyperlinks. Including these is very simple and they will need to be used in order for a visitor to be able to navigate your website. Hyperlinks are words that have some programming behind them so that when you click on them, another webpage opens. This page could be page 2 of your website or a link to Google. All the links on this site are regarded as hyperlinks. Links can open in the same window or in a new window. For this example we will open them in a new window so that you do not end up navigating away from this website.

To create a hyperlink, use the code below replacing the example with the link to where you need to go.

Which goes on to put on your page:
This is a link to Google - Google
This is a link to the home page of this website - Home
This is a link to the next section of this site (Opens in this Window) - Tables
