Becoming a Professional

As I continue my journey through university, I intend to grasp and develop an extensive combination of both professional knowledge and skills which will benifit myself and my students as I move into my chosen career.

The role of teachers is to prepare students with the skills and knowledge that they may need for their furture endevours. Through developing professional knowledge as I move through university and my career, I hope to develop the skills that will allow me to be a successful teacher where I do not simply cram students with knowledge but make sure that they understand it and can see the relevance that it has in the 'real world'.

Evidence:

This assignment that I completed for Sport and Exercise shows that I have grasped some of the key components needed to be a successful and professional PDHPE teacher, which I intend to be after I have obtained a degree in a Bachelor of Human movement/teaching. From this assignment I learned that to be such a successful teacher, I need to play a major leadership role in the classroom which includes qualities such as integrity, flexibility, loyalty, confidence, accountability and preparedness. I also learned from this assignment that I need to have good communication skills to help my students understand the skills and information that I will teach them and show them the relevant it has to the 'real world'. Reinforcement is another key concept needed in the classroom for successful teaching, because it creates an environment in which children are willing to learn and achieve their best.

Sport and Exercise Assignment.

The Exract from a reference that I recieved after working as a nanny for 2 months during the summer holidays is evidence that I am reliable and campable of look after children. Although I took full care over 3 children all below the age of 4, it is still evidence that I have it within me to be able to handle a group of children and take the responsibilities that come with looking after and teaching them. From this experience, I learned that all of the key concepts that I described in the assignment above, including good leadership qualities, good communication and listening virtues and reinforcement techniques, all came into play and were relevant during my time as a nanny to take good care and control over the children.

'I have had the pleasure of knowing Melanie all her life and have always found her to be a very pleasant young lady. Melanie has been working for me on a casual basis over the last few months as a babysitter, where she has proved herself to be a reliable and honest person.'
