Educators are critical to enhancing the communication skills of children to support learning. The communication skills needed for classroom success are very different to communication in other contexts. It is often only when a child starts their formal education that communication impairments become evident.
This Speech Space website attempts to bring together speech pathology and teacher knowledge to better support communication and learning in the classroom.
Behind the website a dialogue between speech pathologists and eductors is occuring. Some of the resources have undergone further trialling in schools and feedback has been provided. The most valuable feedback from a teacher has been:
"Don't be put off by the terminology. Jump in. Have a go and ask questions."
If you want to do this "contact us" above and have the opportunity to help shape this SPACE.
