Cape Byron Headland and LighthouseCape Byron Headland Reserve is a State Conservation Area managed by a local trust, the Cape Byron Trust. It comprises spectacular sea cliffs, rare and beautiful coastal vegetation, spectacular beaches and a high quality walking track system that offers spectacular views of both the surrounding Cape Byron Marine Park and the hinterland to the west. Situated on the most Easterly point of mainland Australia, the Reserve is a popular tourist destination. The Cape Byron Lighthouse and light-keepers cottages, built in 1901, are an outstanding feature of the Reserve. All the buildings are listed on the National Estate Register, and offer visitors an i nsight into what life was like in the days of the lighthouse keepers. Aboriginal culture is alive and well at Cape Byron. The Cape is very special to the Bundjalung of Byron Bay (Arakwal) Aboriginal people. Opening times |

Cape Byron State Conservation AreaThe Cape Byron Lighthouse has stood on the most easterly point of the Australian mainland for a century, and today you can take a tour of the tower. The rugged headland, surrounded by sheltered rainforest gullies and subtropical waters, is a great spot for watching turtles, dolphins and humpback whales on their annual migration. The magnificent clifftop walking track winds its way through diverse plant communities, offering panoramic views of the ocean and north coast hinterland. Treat yourself at the top with a drink or snack at the Cape Cafe. You can tour Cape Byron Lighthouse and even stay the night in the lighthouse keeper's quarters (bookings essential). Dhinawan Dreaming - Ocean ShoresDhinawan (Michael Baker) is a descendant of the Gamillaroi Bigambul Tribes. A proud Aboriginal warrior Dhinawan demonstrates his pride in every performance: playing the didgeridoo, dancing and singing. Dhinawan Dreaming offers cultural workshops such as art, bush tucker/bush medicine as well as Didgeridoo and dance workshops. Dhinawan also offers educational lectures and is really involved with many conferences as an Aboriginal Entertainer and Lecturer. Dhinawan performs opening and closing ceremonies for events, conferences, seminars and functions, and is quickly building his reputation as a Keynote Speaker.
