My Family and Pets

My family is very important to me and they are the people who have made me who I am and helped me get to the point I'm at now. They have provided me with great support through my life to this point and I am sure that they will continue to provide me with all the support I need for the future. My pets have always been there for me when I was upset and helped me to cope with all my problems. That is why these people and pets are included here.

Dad and Gail

When my Mum and Dad split I thought Dad would NEVER be happy again, that was until Dad met Gail through Rotary. They are now engaged to be married and live together in a newly built house in Parkes.

Dad was born on the 22nd March 1949 to Mrs. Ella May Gill and Mr. Denis Gill. Dad teaches Industrial Arts (eg metalwork, woodwork, tech drawing and electronics) at Parkes High School. He is the kind of person that would go out of his way to help anybody and thus is a Rotarian and my hero.

Gail was born on the 9th March 1955. Gail works for the National Australia Bank, NAB. She is a very friendly person who tries to help everyone and only wants the best for people.

Laura owns a little flat in Meadowbank and currently works 2 jobs to pay for it. Monday to Friday she works for an accountants firm in Sydney as a secretary with a little bit of IT work on the side. On Saturday mornings she works for a real estate agent as a customer service representative. She has completed a certificate IV in IT through TAFE and so sometimes helps me to understand certain parts of the IT work that I perform and in return I explain to her how to fix some of the problems that she has to deal with.

Nan

Nan was born on the 8th February 1927. My Grandmother, Ella, lives in a granny flat on my father's property in Parkes and drives to Condobolin every weekend to visit me. My nan is one of the best cooks I know and always tries to help around the house even if it is only by doing the ironing.

My Nan has always been there for me and is always there when I need to talk through anything, and doesn't judge me even when she thinks I'm completely wrong. She has protected me when I have felt vulnerable and kept things quiet to protect me. She is the best grandmother I know, and I am very lucky to have a grandmother like her. My grandmother is one of my best friends.

Tom and Lucky

Lucky came into our lives 3 years ago when she was brought to the house by my cousin because she was found wandering outside the Forbes Veterinary Clinic. They tried to find her owner but when they couldn't they had become so attached to her that they couldn't put her down and so she was brought to see if we wanted her. It was love at first sight for our family. She was just the animal we had been looking for and so has never left and thus she became known as Lucky.

In my opinion Lucky isn't really a dog but is more like a person. I believe this because when I was living at home she would always come looking for me if she sensed I was upset and try to comfort me by putting her head on my lap.

Tom came into the house when I was about 10 because I wanted an animal. At first we didn't hit it of real well but as we came to know each other a bit more we came to see that we could be best of friends. So after about 2 years of having him he was sleeping on my bed or on my lap wherever I was you would find Tom. Then about 3 years ago he was out on the street and somehow his tail was broken to the point where it couldn't be repaired so he became a manx. Then about a year ago he was back out on the street and somehow managed to break his back leg and since it couldn't be fixed and he wouldn't have a full lease of life he was put down. It was the hardest decision I ever had to make as he was no longer a cat he had transformed into my best friend.
