Skiing in Australia offically opens each year on the long weekend in June and the season hits full speed in July, August and Sepetember, occasionally October has some skiing. There are multiple reosrts across the south eastern corner of the Australian continent. All of the NSW resorts are located within the Kosciusko National Park and all of the mainland resorts are located in the Australian Alipne region
Cross country skiing has been practiced across the Australian Apline region for well over 100 years but the real growth of downhill skiing in Australia started with the development of the Snowy Mountain Scheme in the 1950's
Competitve skiing and snowsports are organised by the various resorts and clubs around Australia with Ski & Snowboard Australia as the umbrella organisation for snowsports.
