Becoming a Professional

As you move through your university education and into your teaching career you will gradually come to view yourself as a professional. This will mean you will consider a range of issues, some of which will be addressed during your university education. For example; ethical & legal issues, professional development issues, industrial &/or union issues, political and policy making issues. As you have the opportunity to consider these issues, you will come to understand and critique the implications they have for schools as both your workplace and as a major educational setting for the young people you teach.

*First Aid Certificate

It is important that teachers understand a variety of safety issues that may arise in the classroom or school grounds. Teachers need to be able to react to emergancy situations and a first aid certificate enables teachers to gain recognisable training in these areas.
