In case you hadn't figured it out by now my name is Nicholas Ferrar, but I also go by the names Ferrar, Diddums, Fro-Man, and various others which I will refrain from going into. Before I came to CSU I went to Lorien Novalis School for Rudolf Steiner Education from Pre-School through to Year 12, and through those fifteen years (I spent two in Pre-School for reasons of age) I made many life long friends, two of which I've known since my first days at Pre-School. I wouldn't be who I am or where I am if it weren't for them.
For eleven of those fifteen years I played Ice Hockey for the Sydney Bears as a goalie, and that too both attributed to and spoke of who I am, and for those eleven years I was fit, healthy and had the relfexes of a jungle cat. For example, one time while waiting for the bus at school, another bus was pulling out and a kid in the back of it decided to throw a water bomb out the window at my friends and myself. Luckily I saw him do it and managed to both catch the waterbomb and send it back at the now closed window, hitting where his head had previously been. the bus left and a teacher came and asked me why I threw a water bomb at the bus, to which I replied it was thrown at me first and I only threw it back, my friends backed up my story, the teacher nodded approvingly and walked away. The next day a small boy, he couldn't have been more than ten, asked me if "I was the guy who owned the fucker who threw the water bomb."
I loved my school.
For my graduation from Lorien (we don't do the HSC) I made a four minute 3D animation: Animus ex Machina. It took me a little over a year to learn how to use the 3D software I had and make the actualy animation. It was well recieved and the half hour I had to spend standing in front of my school talking about was not as daunting as I had expected.
I had known since Year 10 that I wanted to do 3D animation as a life pth, and after much searching CSU won out as being the best University in NSW with a 3D Animation course. Since coming here I have learnt more in a year than I feel I have for the rest of my life, and made many friends in a short space of time and am looking forward to the next two.
