The Nick Myers Experience |
| (As written by Brodie Palmer) |
A quiet boy hailing from a quiet town, Nicholas James Myers was never one to brag of his talents, especially not around his average-achieving brothers… He stood as an equal to all, sliding in to available spots, slowly and slyly building his talents amongst his schoolyard buddies at his local primary school, Franklin Public School. After spending a few short months being educated at the local high school he realised that he had such a great potential that would best shine through at a different educational institution. It was this thought process that helped his parents make the hard decision to enrol him at Barker College, a large private school in Sydney’s north, following in the footsteps of his two older brothers. Nicholas’ secondary schooling life was an enjoyable one, he filled his days with the company of some great friends, playing social squash and soccer (the 9ths have just as much talent as the 1sts), and a growing interest for all things technological.
As Nicholas hit his senior years of secondary schooling he blossomed into the creative genius that everyone is so fond of at the present day.. He shone through in his year group as a talent in both Visual Arts and Design in Technology, becoming to go-to man for designing fun posters and Photoshop creations for his fellow boarders. It was after the increase in confidence that this quiet young man gained from the compassion and encouragement of his fellow boarders that he realised he could create something with his life and no longer be ‘the younger Myers brother’. It was with this epiphany that he set out in his final year of schooling to create his HSC Visual Arts major body of work, you might have heard of it: its on youtube, won a some prizes of some paintbrushes and landed his name on the invite list for the ‘smart persons’ Barker Assembly. On the side of this, Nicholas’ work also appeared in ‘ArtExpress’, a collection of the best HSC Visual Art pieces from around NSW.
Deciding to continue his passion for all things technical, he applied for the Animation and Visual Effects course at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga, where he is currently studying. Nicholas believes that everything in life happens for a reason, such that he is only the talented, confident young man he is today because of his upbringing and the adversities he has overcome. After finding his passion and devoting his life to it, it became apparent to Nicholas that his two brothers were also achieving their goals and becoming good at life. This made Nicholas very proud to call them family and was looking forward to the day that he achieved such great heights as them. Although this day is yet to come, Nicholas remains a ‘glass half full’ kind of guy, constantly reminding himself that he too will achieve great success and no longer be living in his brothers’ shadow. |
