Household Broadband Adoption (CRiCS supported project)

The aim of this research is to test a conceptual model of the factors affecting the adoption of broadband Internet connections in Australian households.

The delivery of communications services to Australian households is an important national priority for the government and one which is receiving a large amount of coverage due to the debate over the sale of Telstra and the Federal election campaign.  The ability to deliver services to Australian households via broadband is of significant interest to all levels of government.  The emergence of technologies like voice services (VoIP) and television delivery (IPTV) via a broadband connection means there is significant interest in understanding why consumers ultimately decide to adopt broadband.

The model tested by this research will form the basis of future studies of consumer adoption of a range of technologies like third generation (3G) mobile phones, internet television, video on demand into the home and internet telephone services.
