About Us
The three stations featured in this web-site originally appeared in a book published in 2006, called Squatting Runs of Wynyard County by Patrick Donohue. They appeared alongside of seven other stations, one of which is in Gipps County (bordered on the north by the Lachlan River).
This book was the first of what is anticipated to be a seven volume series, the purport of which is to record those of the original squatting runs, that is those occupied prior to the Robertson Land Act of 1861, that still exist, and to which access is granted. The particular area being concentrated on, though not entirely exclusively, is the Riverina, or more strictly, the country betwixt the Rivers Murray to the south, Murrumbidgee to the north and west, and the Tumut in the east.
It is to be understood that even within Wynyard County there exist stations that were not included in this study; inclusion is purely voluntary - there are perhaps five or six that declined when approached. It is not perhaps as comprehensive as may be wished, though of course, something is better than nothing at all.
The author welcomes suggestions, corrections, and any and all help that may be forthcoming - especially with regards to original documents and photographs.
