How can Pam help libraries?

Pam has worked with groups of students and staff in both public and school libraries.

She is available for:

• staff training
• individual staff mentoring
• support in developing a social media profile
• talks and activities with students
• advice on book chats
• engaging teens with voluntary reading programs
• building a collection to engage readers   
• talks to parents about encouraging reading/book choices
• planning storytime programs
• assistance with engaging teens in a bookclub
• reader in residence programs
• advice on set texts
  

An example

Harry Potter Quiz - a 45 minute activity with a mixed ability teenage book club (12 - 16 years).

To celebrate the end of year students received a special invitation to come to bookclub. Entry was only via by having bought a quiz question based on the Harry Potter books.

The aim was not to have a winner but to have fun. 

Students sat in a circle and questions rotated. Each student asking their question until the whole group has shared a question. At the end they were keen to continue and we worked through the excellent Harry Potter Quiz from The Guardian  and this alternative  one too.

This classic You Tube clip was shown at the end of the event. Students may wish to view other clips of their choice around the theme.
