With Axure RP you can create:
- Annotated wireframes
- HTML Prototypes
- Specification documents
It competes against a number of other information architecture tools such as diagramming tools (Visio), graphics tools (Illustrator and Photoshop) and development tools (Dreamweaver).
Axure RP is based upon the Microsoft interface with similar icons, tool bars, and page layouts, including the use of panes.

Wireframes are created from sitemaps (used to manage your pages), by using drag and drop functionality to add predefined widgets or interface elements to the pages. Once on the page, all widgest are fully movable.
Annotations and page notes can then be added to the wireframe, and both contain customizable fields to modify for your own needs.
You can also use ‘Masters’ to create a template of your common elements so that you do not have to recreate them on each page.

Once you have created your wireframes and prototypes, you can easily create a fully customisable specification document in Microsoft Word format. This document can incorporate site maps, screen shots of your wireframes, annotations, page notes and any other information included in your AxureRP files.
