Site Accessibility

Colour

One of the ways in which Navigate Home has made its site accessible is through its deliberate use of colour choice throughout the site. Colour choices on a site are vital, as not all users will be able to easily distinguish between colours. Visitors using a screen reader will not be able to experience colours. White, black and blue are among the easiest colours for most people to distinguish.By using black print on a white background, there is a high amount of contrast. Colour is used in pictures throughout the site to add interest, but do not detract from the accessibility of the site.

Future Plans for Accessibility

As Navigate Home continues to grow, increasing accessibility on our website is a top priority. We will follow Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0, set by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C)Four key principles of accessibility will be examined and followed closely as we plan to make every aspect of our site more accessible. Plans include adding transcripts of current and future audio and video, ensuring that interaction with our site can be done using a keyboard (not relying on a mouse), ensuring helpful error messages are in place when needed, and making certain that all curent and future content is consistently organized and easy to read. The advantages of an upgrade will make the site more accessible to all potential users and also provide us with valuable experience in order to better serve our clients's needs for their own sites. Although this will require a deep and thorough understanding of the Guidelines,

Future Plans for Security

Security of our site and yours is a necessary consideration. Part of what makes websites vulnerable to security breaches is that they are intended for access to the public. Web attacks can target either the client or the server. We need to ensure our users and clients can feel secure using our site and services. The following security steps will be taken as we move forward:

• ensuring the security of the operating system and web server

• examining the server for unusual activity

• ensuring the security of confidential information

• protecting and separating the local network from the web server

• creating a privacy policy for our site

• ensuring we remain current on changing security issues
