THE is no doubt sex sells in a modern world and nothing proves that point more than the booming sex industry. A mysterious taboo trade subject to an array of less then flattering stereotypes. PJ is a 28-year-old prostitute who bases herself in Melbourne but often travels for work. She is not a junkie or an alcoholic, she didn't have a traumatic up bringing and flee her home. PJ's childhood was very normal, her parents are your average white middle class conservative couple from the suburbs. "I actually love my job, i do it for pleasure and money, sometimes it sucks like every job but i certainly don't do it to support a habit or anything like that," she said. PJ started working as a escort three months ago, prior to that she eased into the industry as a webcam girl. "My first day was really scary, I just freaked out and didn't think i could do it,” she said. "When I was chosen and got my first client I did it without hesitation and after it was over I thought why didn't i start this 10 years ago. "As PJ I get glimpses into many peoples lives at their most vulnerable state." Today she will pleasure two to eight men in a 10-hour shift, anywhere between 18-60 years old. During the introduction PJ will describe her services and extras, anything from kissing to receiving oral and anal sex may incur extra fees but a general service includes a massage, oral and sex. "Most are missing female interaction, a bit shy or busy with work and don't have time to try and meet a woman who will maybe have sex with them," she said. "You do have to deal with a lot of fuck heads though, and you still have to go through with the bookings. "One guy came in the other night, he was slimy and gross and when he walked in he was so bossy all he said was 'Bend over i wanna fuck.'” Long bookings will generally consist of five minutes of sex, a 20 minutes hand job and the rest of the time is just spent chatting. It's not all innocent of course, and every now and then a client comes along with a very strange fetish. "One of the weirdest was a guy who asked me to spit in his face and then piss on him, he wanted me to jerk him off with my feet and come on them," she explained. "When guys come in asking for things like that I don't mind as long as they are nice and not sleazy." There are up to 10 girls working in the parlour at one time and when things are quiet of course the conversation turns to gossip. "We go to intros all dressed up as our characters but once we are out of view we are ourselves again, we talk about clients relentlessly, gossip and watch movies. "We always joke about clients seeing us in our natural habitat as slobs." But it's not always that relaxing and by the end of her four day shift, she is emotional, tired and irritated by men. "I have a routine after every shift, I take a shower and wash myself in a special mixture of oils and rock salt and then I visualise all the impurities washing off my body, PJ washing away and I become me again. "I just get on with life."
