Holistic Approach .

As teachers, we are responsible for the individual development of every student. Our goal is to help each student achieve their maximum potential, and effective teachers are able to recognize and meet the individual needs of their students, while still providing the best for the group as a whole. We are concerned with overall development (e.g. social, cultural, physical and moral), not just educational growth, and the confidence, and self-respect which can be attained by students throughout the educational process.

Effective teachers are able to provide fair and equal treatment for all students in their care. They are responsible for the safety and well-being of their students, and are fully aware of the legal responsibilities and ethical considerations relating to student welfare which accompany the role of teaching. It is the teachers 'duty-of-care' to be familiar with the procedures for child protection, and to be able to utilize school and community resources where necessary for the benefit of students.

The ability to recognize and meet the individual needs of staff was a skill that I have had to learn in the workforce in order to successfully manage them.

During my prac, I was able to observe a number of teachers and the ways in which they dealt with different students, and the range of abilities and problems which they each possessed. Teachers dealt fairly with all students, and were concerned with their welfare, even outside of the classroom.

As a part of this degree, I have undertaken the Child Protection Course, and have also achieved my first aid certificate.
