Leadership.

Effective teachers lead by example. They are always conscious of the need to update knowledge, teaching strategies and adapt their teaching to the educational needs of the situation (both within the school and the wider community).

Effective teachers are willing to draw on the experiences of other colleagues in order to provide the best teaching strategies and to ensure the welfare of students. They are active participants in the community, and recognize their responsibility in the ongoing development of students in their care. They can account and adapt to social and cultural variances in student composition, and are aware of, and responsive to the specific needs and issues relating to these members of their classroom, both within the education system itself, and the wider community.

Throughout my life I have been involved in a number of community activities designed to develop my leadership abilities. At school I was actively involved in debate and sporting events, and undertook courses designed to improve areas of skill such as my abilities as a public speaker, and first aid.

Since leaving school, I have volunteered my time in the community to such causes as Camp Quality, and riding for the disabled. At work I have been responsible for the development of staff training measures and occupational health and safety guidelines to ensure efficiency and safety in the workplace. I am able to work effectively as a member of a team or group in whatever capacity is required of me.
