The Grass - A test patch!
Just thought I would try a test patch of grass using seed to see if it would actually grow.
It turned out really good as you can see from the pictures. I followed what the lady said at Green Acres Turf Farm where I purchased the seed. She said to keep it damp but no puddles.
Being too lazy to water the lawn every day I setup some little sprayers and put it on a timer. This way it got watered every day and I didn't have to do much work. I like these jobs.
I plan to do the backyard and possibly now the side and front when I have time. The jobs keep piling up.
Steps involved in this job included
- Removing old grass and preparing the area.
- Added some garden mix soil.
- Setup a small irrigation system with mist sprayers and attached it to an automatic timer on the tap.
- Spread the seed out and water in.
- Waited 12 days until germination and then added some more seed where necessary.
- The grass was watered for 10 minutes 3 times a day during the hottest parts of the day. Sounds crazy but this was to stop the soil drying out.
- Mowed it as soon as I felt it needed it.
- Watering continued for possibly one month.
