The Wall - My retaining wall
A massive project that took 5 days to build (with some help). This retaining wall is 40 meters long which you cannot see from these pictures (Pictures show only half the wall). The blocks weighted 20kgs each and the clay soil is not easy to dig.
However the finished result is 1000 times better.
Steps to complete the job
- I got one of those DIY mini diggers from H.N.S Canvas in Bathurst and leveled most of the yard myself.
- Also with the digger I dug the trench for the blocks to sit in.
- Once the trench was finished it was time to mix cement and start the first row of blocks.
- Using a string line and alot of help from friends and family the first row was complete.
- These blocks just lay on top of each other so next layers were not too difficult.
- Cement inside the blocks one column every 5 paces.
- Put tops on.
- Back filled with gravel, sand and than top soil.
- Slowly added plants.
- After all that work had this great idea to paint the fence too so spray painted that.
- Job complete, time for beer.
