The First IEEE International Workshop on Security and Privacy in eHealthcare (SPeH 2015) will be a one-day workshop co-located with the IEEE Conference on Local Networks (LCN).

All accepted papers will appear in the IEEE LCN 2015 Proceedings.

Scope

Rapid advancements in wireless communication and sensing technologies have introduced a range of applications, including medical and healthcare systems.  The healthcare sector is increasingly adopting the emerging technical trend and many applications and tools have been introduced to remotely monitor and store patients’ sensitive data.  The inherent weaknesses associated with wireless and mobile communication raises serious questions about the security and privacy of sensitive data in transmission and stored in virtual environments.

The First IEEE International Workshop on Security and Privacy in eHealthcare (SPeH 2015) will address research in security and privacy of applications and tools in eHealthcare and provide a unique forum to present and discuss the key issues and innovative solutions to address the security and privacy concerns in eHealthcare.

The major focus of the workshop will include, but not limited to the following:

  • Authentication in wireless body networks
  • Secure wireless network communication
  • Data security and privacy in eHealthcare
  • Secure connectivity in wearable devices
  • eHealthcare security challenges in cloud
  • Trustworthy wearable sensing devices

Important Dates

Paper Submission: May 9, 2015 (*** Extended to May 26, 2015 ***)
Notification of Acceptance: July 6, 2015
Final Paper and Author Registration: July 31, 2015
Workshop: Oct. 26-29, 2015

Paper Submission

Authors are invited to submit papers for presentation at the conference, describing original, previously unpublished work, not currently under review by another conference, workshop, or journal.

Papers (no more than 8 camera-ready pages, 10 pt font in IEEE format) should present novel perspectives within the general scope of the conference.

Papers in excess of page limits shall not be considered for review or publication. Both formats are published in the proceedings and IEEE Xplore. All papers must include title, complete contact information for all authors, abstract, and keywords on the cover page.

Papers must be submitted electronically to EDAS in PDF format, US-Letter size (not A4), with all fonts embedded. (The PDF-A standard complies with that.)

Please format your submission using the guidelines provided in IEEE_conf_layout.pdf. The guidelines are implemented in the following templates.

You are strongly encouraged to produce your paper with LaTex, since that will lead to consistent typographic quality, and is widely used in scientific publications.

If you are not a LaTex user yet, please use this submission to start:

  • Template for LaTex users including Bibtex-Style: IEEEtran_LCN.zip
  • LaTex authors please verify you are using the following documentclass: \documentclass[letterpaper,conference]{IEEEtran}

Only in case you are unable to use LaTex, other text processors may be used at your own risk. IEEE provides a template for Word in US-Letter size. You have to submit a paper that follows the IEEE conference formatting requirements (e.g., font sizes, margins, and layout). Thus, check them really carefully.

Margins must be:

  • Top: 0.75 inch = 1.91 cm
  • Left/right: 0.62 inch = 1.58 cm
  • Bottom 1.0 inch = 2.54 cm

Further important requirements:

  • Title is set in 24 pt non-bold.
  • Any running headers/footers or page-numbers must be removed.
  • Columns should be balanced, i.e. have same length on each page.
  • Blue-underlining for URLs and email addresses should be removed.

Authors are required to submit their papers through the EDAS web site in three steps:

  1. Creation of a personal account in EDAS (if you are new to EDAS)
  2. Registration of the paper following http://edas.info/20031 (requiring title and a draft abstract of up to 150 words)
  3. Upload of the paper, in PDF format only, updating the abstract, keywords and topics

EDAS will automatically check some formatting requirement, such as embedded fonts, letter size and margins. Authors can always update their manuscripts before the deadline, overwriting the previous one. For help with EDAS please contact the EDAS Administrator via the "Request Help" link at the bottom of each page.

Authors should also be aware of the following conditions:

  • It is a requirement that all authors listed in the submitted paper are also listed in EDAS. Note that the author section of EDAS will be "locked" at the conference submission deadline. After the deadline, the list of authors can only be modified by sending a request to the Program Chairs, who will decide on a case-by-case basis based on the reasons provided. This policy is to ensure that conflict-of-interest can be properly enforced during review. It also avoids situations where an author submits a paper without informing his/her co-authors. If a paper's author list in the submitted version does not match that in EDAS, the paper may not be reviewed.
  • The authors of accepted papers must guarantee that their paper will be presented at the conference. At least one author of each accepted paper must be registered at full rate for that paper to appear in the proceedings and to be scheduled for presentation.
  • IEEE reserves the right to remove papers from IEEE Xplore that are not presented at the conference. In the last years, there were papers removed for this reason.

Registration

Conference and paper registration is done via the IEEE online conference registration Web site. Details can be found at this link: http://www.ieeelcn.org/Attendee.html.
