READ ME FIRST
The CSU Medical Image Library is a study and research resource for CSU Allied Health staff and students. You will need to download and install the Synapse Workstation Client, and all the associated files and settings, on to your PC or laptop, before you can access, or use, the library.
Prerequisites for Synapse Access and Use
You will need to:
- Be a local administrator on your PC to install programs.
- Have an internet connection, preferably broadband.
- Be a registered CSU Synapse staff or student user.
Your PC or laptop should meet the following minimum specifications:
- Windows XP/Vista/Windows 7 (32 Bit).
- Internet Explorer 6, 7 or 8.
- Ability to run signed Active X components.
- 24 bit colour display.
NOTE:
- The Synapse Workstation Client is specific to Windows Internet Explorer ONLY. It will not function with any other browser.
- Windows 7 (64 bit) is NOT currently supported and the Synapse workstation code will NOT install on a 64 bit machine. This will be upgraded in 2012.
- MAC OS systems are NOT supported. FujiFilm suggest that MAC users utilise Boot camp, Parallels, or VM Fusion to run a virtual XP or Vista machine.
Synapse Workstation Installation
Installing the Synapse Workstation on your Windows PC is a straight forward, four step process, either through an on-campus or an off-campus broadband network.
To avoid download and installation problems, carefully READ, and FOLLOW, the instructions for each step.
1. Download and install the Synapse Workstation Client:
-
Follow the Step 1 instructions on the side bar.
2. Configure the Communication Settings:
-
Follow the Step 2 instructions on the side bar.
3. Install MPRFusion and CSU configuration settings:
-
Follow the Step 3 instructions on the sidebar
4. Enable the signed Active X Controls in Internet Explorer:
NOTE: This step is recommended only if your default Active X settings do not permit Synapse to function. In most cases, changing the default settings will not be required.
-
Follow the Step 4 instructions on the sidebar.
You only need to follow these steps ONCE on each PC or laptop. When you have installed and configured the Synapse Workstation on your PC or laptop, you will be able access, and use, Synapse anywhere. It won't matter if you are connected through the on-campus CSU network or through an off-campus network at home, you will have the same access to all the standard Synapse folders and tools.
Manuals can be downloaded, and saved to your PC, from the side bar.
Please contact your Synapse administrators regarding any problems.
