Widening of Tolo and Fanling Highways, Hong Kong | |
The 40-month contract which commenced in late February 2010 involved the widening of a 3.5 km long section of the Tolo and Fanling Highways between Ma Wo and Tai Hang. It required converting the existing dual 3-lane carriageways to dual 4-lane carriageways. The project scope included modification and demolition of five existing bridges and the construction of eight vehicular bridges including all associated interchanges and utilities. The contract also required a 12-month maintenance period of the widened road. |

Valued at HK$2.2 billion, the contract comprised construction of a 3.5km long dual three-lane carriageway with 0.3km on land and 3.2km over water, linking the Deep Bay Link to the Shenzhen Section of the HK-SWC at the boundary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and Shenzhen over Deep BayFor the over-water section, the 2.7km long elevated approach pre-cast segmental viaduct runs from the landing point at Ngau Hom Shek and connects to the 460m long steel deck cable-stayed bridge located at the southern navigational channel at the HKSAR marine boundary. |

Route 8 Nam Wan Tunnel and West Tsing Yi Viaduct, Hong Kong | |
Valued at HK$1.48 billion, the contract covers a 1.4-kilometre viaduct in West Tsing Yi linking to the existing Cheung Tsing Highway and a 1.2-kilometre highway tunnel in Tsing Yi Island, with two parallel tunnel tubes, each comprising three lanes. It will form part of Route 8 and provide linkage between the eastern part of the New Territories and Chek Lap Kok International Airport. The project is scheduled for completion in 2008. |

The scope of this HK$4.94-billion contract, which is scheduled for completion in 2011, covers the Central Government Complex (CGC), the Legislative Council (LegCo) Complex, landscaped open space and ancillary facilities. The JV’s dynamic vision for the project features “Open Door” and “Green Carpet” concepts that are symbolic of the government’s openness and transparency, while the design also provides a vast, central civic space, lush greenery and improved ventilation that will benefit the whole of Central District. At the peak of its construction period, a workforce of more than 3,000 will be involved with this project, which will help ease unemployment in the construction sector. |
